Ann Byle is a freelance journalist, book author and editor, and book coach. She blends creativity and a journalist’s sensibility in her latest book, Chicken Scratch. She lives in West Michigan with her family of humans and animals.

Long bio

Ann Byle is a freelance writer/journalist who writes forPublishers Weekly, Christianity Today, Grand Rapids Magazine, and other publications. She began her career writing book jacket and catalog copy for Moody Publishers before working as a copy editor and book review editor for The Grand Rapids Press. From there she wrote marketing copy for Our Daily Bread Ministries before beginning her freelance career in 1997.

She has cowritten books, among them (with Bethany Hamilton) is Soul Surfer Devotions, The Edge of Redemption with Troy Evans, and When Angels Fight with Leslie King.

Ann is author of her own books as well, including The Baker Book House Story, Christian Publishing 101, and The Revell Story. With three other freelance writers she has written The Joy of Working at Home: Embracing the Freedom, Avoiding the Pitfalls (an ebook). Her latest book is Chicken Scratch: Lessons on Living Creatively from a Flock of Hens. She’s working on several new book projects.

Ann lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with her husband, Ray, a high school science teacher, and their husky/hound brown/blue-eyed dog/hellion and one crabby cat. Their five young-adult children (including one in-law child) and their dogs are in and out regularly. She loves to read, papercraft, thrift, and puzzle.
